Multifunctional Information Distribution System (MIDS) Link 16 Training Course

Delivery:  Online

Duration:  5 half-day Sessions

 

The aim of this online course is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of MIDS Link 16.  The course references both Allied Tactical Data Link Publications (ATDLPs) and United States (US) Military Standards (MIL-STDs) documentation.

 

This course is primarily aimed at those personnel who require a balanced understanding of MIDS Link 16.  As such, the syllabus has been designed to cover both technical and operational employment of MIDS Link 16.

 

By the end of this course students will be able to:

  • Explain the technical characteristics of the MIDS terminal.
  • Describe the capabilities provided by the J-Series message catalogue.
  • Identify the restrictions imposed on the use of MIDS Link 16 by the Frequency Clearance Agreement.
  • Interpret the Link 16 portion of the Operational Tasking (OPTASK) Link.
  • Recall the planned changes to the terminals used by Link 16 in accordance with Block Upgrade 2, and the use of the Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS).

Our Approach to Online Training

Delegates should also be aware that in order to join the sessions via the conference facility, a download of an executable (.exe) installer file is required to open the GoToWebinar interface and join the session.

 

The sessions will be spread over 5 days, in blocks of approximately 3.5 - 4 hours with appropriate breaks being taken.

 

The MIDS Link 16 course is subject to certain United Kingdom (UK) Export Control restrictions.
